Norberto
"El Pulpo" Esbrés and Luiza:
NORBERTO ESBREZ has sixteen years of professional experience as a dancer, tango teacher and choreographer of the Argentine tango. First steeped in the traditional training of Dinzel, he then carefully researched and developed a singularly innovative and unusual new technique and style. He and his partner improvise in continuous, round, smooth sequences of intertwining ganchos (hooks), sacadas (displacements) and enganches (entanglements,) highly original and never before seen on the floors of Buenos Aires milongas. These new movements earned him the nickname there of "El Pulpo" (The Octopus). In 1999 Norberto began to travel with the gifted dancer and musician LUIZA PAES as his partner, and together they explore the possibilities of the laughing, crying tango universe. Through more than a decade of teaching tango and giving exhibitions in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and Argentina, El Pulpo has developed his clear, relaxed, humorous style of instruction which helps his students achieve greater and greater precision and creativity.
